Loading/Unloading
Between the manufacturer and the laboratory the Camera Assistant is the only person to actually touch the film. Others may handle the cardboard boxes of film or handle the sealed aluminum film cans, but only the Assistant touches the film itself.
On a normal feature film, the responsibility for loading and unloading the film magazines belongs to the Second Camera Assistant. On a television commercial, or a documentary, or even some low-budget features, there may only be one Camera Assistant, responsible for all of the duties of the First and Second Camera Assistants.
