Measuring the effectiveness of executive coaching, while difficult, is necessary to the advancement of coaching as a leadership development tool (Kilburg, 2004; Lowman, 2005). Little empirical research supports the effectiveness of executive coaching (Kilburg, 2004), and thus far the field has focused on case studies and survey-based research about the process of coaching to get information (Kilburg, 2004; Lowman, 2001; Grant, 2013).
