10A Billion Strong

Over a billion people around the world have some form of disability. A billion. And yet so many are left to flounder in the workforce – either being overlooked for employment or not given the tools to thrive.

In our most recent DIAL Global Diversity Review, we found 88% of participating UK companies say they encourage honest discussions around disability in the workplace. Of the UK companies surveyed, close to all organisations support their disabled staff with the most vital aspects to do their jobs, with 92% offering workplace adjustments and 93% having employee assistance lines or occupational health services geared towards employees with disabilities.

Some 72% provide further support in the form of mentoring, coaching, or buddying for employees with disabilities (up from 47% last year). And 66% train and equip staff and line managers with specific training around disability, with many others saying they do so “on requirement” as the need arises (up 39% over 2022).
