Children are a joy to watch, and they make charming drawing subjects. If you don’t have children of your own to observe, take a sketch pad to the beach or a neighborhood park, and make quick thumbnail sketches of kids at play. Sometimes it actually helps if you don’t know your subject personally, because it helps you to see from a fresh and objective point of view.
