TOOLS & MATERIALS

There are a few basic tools you will use when creating spiral art and other optical illusions:

Workstation: Set up a work area that has good lighting and enough room to lay out your tools. During the day, use an area with good natural lighting. When drawing at night, use a soft white lightbulb and a cool white fluorescent light to provide both warm (yellowish) and cool (bluish) light.

Working surfaces: A flat or slightly tilted surface is best for drawing, and an easel is the traditional choice for oil painting.
