Jackson, Michael (1958-2009) American singer/entertainer born in Gary, Indiana. At the age of six, he started singing lead vocals in the Jackson 5 (consisting of four of his brothers), and after splitting off as a solo act became one of the top three commercially successful musical artists of all time (along with the Beatles and Elvis Presley). Known as the “King of Pop,” Jackson had 17 number-one singles, 13 Grammy Awards, record sales of up to $750 million, and was named the “Most Successful Entertainer of All Time” by the Guinness Book of World Records.
