tablature A type of musical notation indicating fingering positions instead of musical notes.
tacet (L., silent) Instruction in a musical score that indicates to the performer that he or she has no part to play for quite some time. Tacet al fine indicates that the performer is done playing.
tag A jazz term for a passage or section added to the end of a composition to emphasize or confirm the feeling of finality; also known as a coda.
tailpiece Used on members of the violin family to anchor the strings to the bottom front of the instrument; usually made of ebony or some other wood.
