When we first think about the visual look of our film, we often consider how we’ll light the scene, how we’ll compose the images, and how we’ll move the camera or reframe. But one of the most important factors in the visual look of our film is its production design.
You may still hear it referred to as art direction. That’s partly because as novice filmmakers, we’re more likely to have heard this particular term. But art direction nowadays is considered only one small part of production design.
