Trolling for Your Ideal Job
What if you’re not applying for a specific job, but rather simply putting your resume up on one of the huge job boards for a recruiter to find? How can you tailor that resume? Easy! Write a resume for your ideal job. Here’s how:
1. Write a job description for your ideal job, using your imagination to picture exactly what the job would entail and what sort of company culture you want that job to be in (for example, young and hip, or traditional and conservative).
2. Make a list of keywords that define all the things you want in that job (for instance, working with “teens” or doing “outside sales”).
3. Write your resume for the ideal job you’ve just described, being sure to include all the keywords from your list.
