After downloading raw files, or importing raw files into a designated folder, the next step if you are using a ‘Convert and then Edit’ workflow is to process the files using a raw converter. In this phase of the workflow you examine each raw image in turn, or a group of similarly executed files, making note of any problems with shadows, highlights, exposure, white balance and more. This is the time to make lobal adjustments (adjustments to the whole of the image) to bring your images within their acceptable dynamic range and to fine-tune them to your personal taste.
