I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
After meeting with Dan, I take a taxi home—with jet lag, driving seems like a bad idea. As we near home, I ponder Dan’s advice. Right now, I think of procurement challenges in relation to how to negotiate externally and manage suppliers. It hadn’t occurred to me that internal negotiations in relation to procurement would be a problem. But again, if Heartland’s procurement organization is indeed a decade or so behind ours, I might be up against a lot of internal antagonism. People don’t like change.
