Basic Orchestration
The key to a well-balanced mix lies in the arrangement and orchestration of its constituent sounds. As discussed in Chapter 7, conforming to the natural layout of the harmonics in the overtone series offers multiple frequencies the space they need to be heard clearly within an arrangement. A well-orchestrated piece will take advantage of this concept by emphasizing certain harmonic intervals in specific ranges, while avoiding those that do not adhere to the low interval limit guidelines (also discussed in Chapter 7).
