Connecting Ideas with Analogies

A MONTH INTO HER most recent consulting assignment, Anita had night visions of a self-eating snake—a circular serpent that ate its own tail. She’d first seen the image ten years earlier at a museum exhibit on ancient Egypt. She remembered being struck by the mythical animal and reading that the auto-cannibalizing reptile, or ouroboros, was a visual metaphor for the endless life-and-death cycles in nature.
