Chapter 7Producing Your Promotional Video
The process of transforming an individual into a financial supporter (backer) for your project is a multiple step process. First, you need to pinpoint the people who you believe would be interested in your project. Next, you must direct those people to your campaign’s web page. At this point, the content of that web page (which is typically hosted by the crowd funding platform you opt to use) needs to tell your story, build excitement for your project, and convince people to become backers.
Perhaps the most powerful tool at your disposal to sell your product idea and explain to your target audience what it’s all about is the promotional video that can—and should—be included on your campaign’s web page. Based on how you shoot the video and its content, the same video, or an edited version of it, can also appear on your primary website, Facebook page, blog, and/or YouTube channel. You can also use it to presell your project concept and drive traffic to your campaign’s web page.
You already know that people surfing the Internet have a very short attention span, and once people visit your campaign’s web page, you literally have just seconds to capture their interest and get them to click the play button and watch your video.
