About 200 miles south of Lima, Peru, in the desert plains, there are nearly 1,000 depictions of geometric shapes and animals. When seen from the ground, they are nothing more than lines in the sand, but when viewed from above, they are impressive works of art. Some of the earliest examples of what are commonly called “Nazca Lines” date to about 200 BCE.
