Use of Light

A YOGA MOMENT

Take a picture in such a way that it emphasizes the point you are trying to make. During a photo session of a yoga instructor, I took advantage of a skylight in the building that provided diffused directional light. You get a sense of the deep concentration and tranquility of the subject, and her practice, from the fingers interlocking around her foot. The red yoga mat reflected the light in such a way that the photograph had an overall warm tone. —TH
