Chapter 6THE ROAD AHEAD

MARCH 25 (TWO WEEKS LATER . . . )

The team was in high spirits as they convened in the conference room. Marcus and Chloe chatted about data collection as she plugged her enormous laptop into the projection console. Sameer and Pam made each other laugh as they made plans to pare down a very long list of monthly reports. Martha and Elke excitedly discussed the upcoming half-day off-site for their two teams to address enhancing their communication and collaboration.

Pam called the team to order. “Thank you all for your hard work over the last few weeks,” she began. “I’m looking forward to the details of your plan. First, here’s a recap of our ecosystem list and the status of projects outside our domain.” She motioned to Chloe, who revealed the first slide.

“As you can see,” she continued, “in response to the ecosystem, Sales is about to announce changes to quotas and is working with Marketing on new incentives for selling our acquired products. The product team has ramped up development of internal products in addition to continuing our acquisition strategy and figuring out how to integrate acquired products into Exalted’s overall architecture. They may be under the greatest pressure of all. Chloe, David, and the leadership team agree that you have made a huge impact on this company with your analytics discoveries. Let’s hear what’s next.”

“Thank you, Pam,” Chloe replied with pride. “I’m lucky to have such great partners,” she said, nodding to the team. ...
