Within an SOA framework, OSB provides connectivity, routing, mediation, management, and some process orchestration capabilities. The design philosophy for OSB is to be a high-performance and stateless (nonpersistent state) intermediary between two or more applications. However, given the diversity in scale and functionality of SOA implementations, OSB applications are subject to a large variety of usage patterns, message sizes, and quality of service (QoS) requirements.
This chapter is intended to provide general tuning guidelines and best practices to achieve optimal performance and scalability for different usage scenarios.
