As outlined earlier, the mobile web generally offers up a minimalist version of regular websites, whereas native apps provide more of a tailored yet limited experience. Ultimately, an app’s shelf life is as long as it can hold a users’ attention – not a problem if you intend to create novelty one-off apps, but, if you intend to build a following and generate revenue from your app, it’s a difficult environment to compete in. You need to ensure that your app’s content/functionality is useful or engaging enough to go the distance; make apps for each platform and keep on giving users more of what they want.
