Drawing the Basic Shapes

Create a new layer called Drawing, and position it below the perspective lines in the Layers panel. With those lines visible, start to draw your structure as a series of boxes and cylinders. The largest forms must be delineated before you get involved with detail. If the basic forms are incorrectly drawn, no amount of detail will disguise the fact that your castle isn’t in perspective. Draw in white for a dark scene, or black for a light scene, so the lines show up. You can also turn the opacity of your brush down to 30 percent so you can sketch in some trial lines and get a feel for the proper position. Make sure these basic forms line up with the VPs.
