Chapter 12. Lightroom Develops

IN FEBRUARY, 2008, Photoshop will celebrate the eighteenth anniversary of its arrival on the planet as a fresh version 1.0 app. Almost a human generation has passed since then. Photoshop has evolved quite nicely—thank you very much, Adobe!

Every generation looks at its progenitors and says it is time for a change. Usually, it’s change only to be different. On rare occasions, it is truly change for the better. Enter the new version 1.0 application—Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, born appropriately enough on February 19, 2007, and already updated to version 1.1 a week before this chapter was written.
