Authentic leaders expect outstanding performance from themselves, from others, and from their teams in order to achieve outstanding results. But high expectations and high standards are not enough to achieve these results. There must also be a climate in which others are empowered to lead and to assume responsibility for achieving the organization's goals and objectives. Authentic leaders empower others in their organization by aligning them around a common purpose and set of values and encouraging them to step up and lead. Thus they create organizations of empowered leaders at all levels.
