The Critical Incident Questionnaire (CIQ) is a one-page, five-item instrument that provides anonymous feedback on how discussions are progressing.

To provide regular, valid information on how people experience discussions
To help facilitators judge the accuracy of their assumptions about what best helps people learn
To detect problems early before they get out of hand
To help participants appreciate the range of learning preferences in a group
To model critical thinking by instructors and leaders
