5 Reaching the Top of the Healthy Workplace Culture Pyramid  The Three Fs

Now that you’ve learned more about harassment, bias, diversity, and ethics, it’s time to identify a path that is equal parts ambition and realism to achieve a drama-free workplace. In fact, in my view, making your way to the top of the Healthy Workplace Culture Pyramid is much like taking an actual hike up a mountain.

As anyone who has gone on a hike knows, before embarking on your journey, you need to check conditions (weather) and location (where is your starting point and where are you headed, at least generally), and you need to have an understanding of possible hazards.

Similarly, before implementing a plan to prevent workplace drama and “hiking” to the top of the Healthy Workplace Culture Pyramid, you need to:

  • Check conditions. (How much of an appetite for change is there at the employee and leadership level?)
  • Establish your current and desired locations. (Are you in a toxic workplace where you need to start from the bottom, or are you already at a company with a good culture?)
  • Identify possible hazards or roadblocks and develop a plan to avoid or deal with them. (What are the realistic challenges that lie ahead and how can you both predict and prepare for them?)
