Read Between the Lines

You walk over to the cafeteria with Matt, the developer who coarchitected the framework with Jason on which the software product is built.

“It’s good to have you here. We’ve needed fresh blood for a while. Roger’s great because he says what’s on his mind, and he’s usually right. The problem is that he doesn’t have seniority within the team, so most of his suggestions get ignored.”

Nancy, Ben, Rebecca, and Ash (another developer on the team) are eating their lunch by the time the two of you arrive.

“Where’s Roger?” you ask.

“Roger and William go to the gym every lunchtime,” says Ash.

“Roger wants to be beach-ready,” Nancy adds. It’s February, and everyone laughs, including you.
