Traveling with Equipment
On the whole, digital equipment is a little lighter than conventional kit. However, thanks to the electronics involved, digital kit requires more accessories in the form of batteries, cables, and adapters if you’re traveling abroad.
This means that there is an even more marked difference between what you need to travel with and what you need for actual shooting. So it makes more sense to consider dividing the packing between a case for transportation and a bag for shooting while simply walking around. A backpack is worth considering for hiking, climbing, and other outdoor photography. For transportation, well-padded protection is a high priority, given that digital equipment tends to be delicate.
