Fixing Lens Distortion
Lens technology is improving year on year. However, as the technology improves the desire for producing zooms with a greater range, from wide angle to long telephoto, have resulted in lenses that often display geometric distortion.
Gone are the days when prime lenses were obviously superior in image quality, but it is more difficult to correct distortion in a zoom—on a lens with a large range, it’s quite likely that there will be barrel distortion at the wide-angle end, with pincushion at the other, longer-focus end.
