Introduction

Millions of people in India have been physically displaced due to the setting up of development projects. This has resulted in involuntary loss of homes and hearths and shattering of their culture and kinship linkages built over several centuries and generations. These development projects range from dam projects to thermal power projects to coal projects to industrial, mining, urban infrastructure, road and a host of other areas.
