Indeed, a large number of books have been written on the subject, some on the role of higher purpose in the lives of individuals and others on the role of higher purpose in organizations. Authors talk about “leading with the soul,” “managing from the outside in,” “focusing first on the ‘why’ instead of the ‘how.’” Yet few organizations have adopted an authentic higher purpose that influences their daily business decisions.
