Ethics, the reality of use and global considerations
Abstract
The preceding chapters have identified the ethical considerations that should be adhered to when dealing with electronic health records (EHRs). Various attempts have been made by different agencies to provide rules, guidelines, and even laws to achieve this. However, these tend to be jurisdiction-dependent and tend to lack enforcement provisions. Arguably, the only way to ensure that EHRs are handled ethically properly on a global sale is to require knowledge of and adherence to the ethical standards that were outlined in the preceding chapters.
