2 In Search of Excellence in Theory
Introduction
This chapter considers business excellence ‘in theory.’ It will build upon the analyses developed in Collins (2000, 2007, 2008, 2022) to offer reflections on the manner in which In Search of Excellence constitutes its core orientations. In addition, this chapter will offer an account of the development of the 7-S framework that, as we shall see, underpins the very foundations of the excellence project. In this regard, our approach is genuinely distinctive.
