51. GET TO KNOW YOUR SUBJECT

THIS SEEMS PRETTY simple. Get to know your subject. I’m not talking about getting to know them through simple conversation (although, this is an extremely valuable way of learning more about your subject). I encourage all portrait photographers to do their research on their subject and let it show through story-filled imagery. This “research” can vary from relatively academic to purely conversational, but it is essential.
