SIMPLE PHYSICS TELLS us that shadows point toward the light source that created them. This is great when you’re trying to reverse engineer a cool lighting setup you saw used in the wild somewhere, but not so great when you forget to pay attention to your composition and fall back into “snapshot” mode. If you’re not in the habit of continuously being aware of the light around you and how it’s affecting your subject(s), your images won’t be as great as they could be. And the fix is pretty simple—you just have to pay attention.
