28. CREATING SELECTIONS WITH THE MARQUEE AND LASSO TOOLS
THE MARQUEE AND Lasso tools are pretty straightforward and easy to use. Pressing the letter M will give you either the Rectangular Marquee tool or the Elliptical Marquee tool. To use it, click and drag on the document until the selection is the size you want it to be. If you’d like to constrain the selection so it is proportional, hold down the Shift key as you drag, and you’ll notice that now you cannot make it wider than it is tall.
