BLACK-AND-WHITE PHOTOS OFTEN suggest a classic feel, but this visual interpretation is much more than just a vintage look to apply to a photo. By removing the distractions of color, you can focus more on the interplay between light and shadow. The monochromatic approach can be very effective for a range of subject matter (Figure 52.1).
