7.1. INTRODUCTION

Motion tracking in digital video aims at deriving the trajectory over time of moving objects or, in certain cases, the trajectory of the camera. Tracking should be distinguished from object detection, that aims at estimating an object’s position and/or orientation in a certain image. However, detection and tracking are not totally unrelated.
