Polymer blend/alloy is a mixture of two or more polymers. (The second polymer added will be of significant quantity i.e. ˃2% by weight.) A polymer alloy is a compatibilized immiscible polymer blend.

Polymer blend/alloy technology is a combination of more than two polymeric materials taking advantage of either physical blending or chemical modification, with the objective to improve the functional properties of a pure single polymer. Polymer alloy will allow the material that has a higher specific strength, higher specific modulus, or lower specific gravity, making it a highly competitive engineering material in the plastic industry.
