Polymer Light-Emitting Diode (PLED) is a light-emitting diode (LED) in which the emissive electroluminescent layer is a polymer film, which emits light of a particular wavelength (color) in response to an electric current.

In 1990, electroluminescence (EL) from conjugated polymers was first reported by Burroughes et al. of Cambridge University. A layer of poly(para-phenylenevinylene) (PPV) was sandwiched between layers of indium tin oxide (ITO) and aluminum.
