THE MAJORITY OF PROFESSIONAL photographers work on what is referred to as a freelance basis. This means that they have no guaranteed monthly income and no single employer. There are full-time roles for photographers within some publishing companies and large retail brands, but these have a tendency to be limited in creativity and in opportunities to progress and evolve your work. This is not always the case, but it is worth bearing in mind if you are the sort of person who is either looking for a ‘secure’ job or creative freedom.
