How This Book Came to Be
From the time I was little, I wanted to be a millionaire. At the time, I didn’t know why; I just knew it was important to me. By the time I was 22, I seemed to be in the right direction. I had a $250,000 house with a pool, nice new cars, and the facade of success. Everything looked amazing on the outside.
But the reality was I hated my job, and I was miserable. I was traveling constantly, working 60 hours per week, and had gained more than 25 pounds from going out to eat all of the time. In addition, I wanted to start a family, and I knew that my current job situation would not be right for that. To make matters worse, my husband and I were $70,000 in debt, and I was the primary breadwinner for our then two-person family.
It was under these conditions that I took the first major step toward building a new, fulfilling life for myself. I created a plan to pay off the debt so that I could quit my job and pursue work that I enjoyed. With a strict budget, many life changes, and the complete and total cooperation of my husband, I achieved those goals in 16 months.
As I already mentioned, I had a lifelong goal of becoming a millionaire. But I had to put that goal on hold while I learned to live a new life that wasn’t all about the money.
