COLORED PENCIL
Colored pencils have come a long way from the tools we remember using in grade school. Artists from around the world have picked up these little wood-encased sticks of pigment and taken gallery owners and the viewing public’s breath away with their finely crafted works of art.
TYPES
Colored pencils are wood-encased leads made of pigment and wax or kaolin clay. Wax is more common and affordable. The wax leads are soft and allow for smooth, controlled blends. This medium works well on multiple surfaces, from smooth to rough to toned surfaces. Many artists find it easiest to work on a surface with at least a slight tooth.
