One of the most common mistakes that inexperienced or untrained interviewers make is to go into an interview unprepared. Most people think they are great judges of people, but after hiring a few, they tend to learn otherwise.
Never go into an interview “on the fly” just because a candidate happens to walk in the door and fill out an application. Even if you are incredibly experienced, you are still relying on your sole judgment, and your focus is less than adequate. This is not the time to wing it, or to play psychic.
