EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATIONS
When you are hired, you are classified in two ways: as exempt or nonexempt, and as full time, part time, or temporary. The full-time, part-time, or temporary status determines what benefits, if any, you are entitled to. The exempt or nonexempt status determines whether you are entitled to overtime pay or not.
Nonexempt and Exempt Employees
All employees are classified as either exempt or nonexempt. By law, employees in certain types of jobs are entitled to overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 8 hours per day or 40 hours per workweek.
