Minds and Hearts
Being 23 and having to lay off my colleagues, some of whom were my dearest friends, only to be let go myself was one of the most challenging times in my life. It didn’t matter that I knew I had done the best I could and controlled everything that was possible to control. Ultimately, none of us had jobs, and I’d let people down. I felt like a failure. The emotional weight was heavy.
As I saw it, I had two options. I could get swept up in my sadness, be depressed, and ruminate about what we could have done differently. Or I could find a way to move forward.
