Redirecting Feedback

Let us now turn to the subject of redirecting feedback. In the previous chapter, we outlined the typical and even understandable barriers that might keep us from providing feedback that could truly be useful in helping our colleagues change. Many of those barriers have to do with our own discomfort in offering information that may upset our colleagues or make them angry at us.

Later in this chapter, we will distinguish between feedback that can be delivered in an on-the-spot conversation and feedback that might best be delivered in a coaching conversation, utilizing the Coaching Conversation Guide that we discussed earlier.
