TRANSFORMING YOUR CORPORATE CULTURE
Why this matters
The nature of work is changing. Traditional hierarchies and bureaucratic structures created for an industrial age do not appear to fit a new working culture of empowerment, informality, flexible employment and collaboration. This has led to a search for alternatives or the rediscovery of old ideas, such as the concept of the Adhocracy — a celebration of unstructured, agile and improvisational organisational models.101 We have also been introduced to the Holacracy, which eliminates the traditional corporate chain of command with a series of overlapping, self-governing ‘circles’ to create a flatter management structure.102
