Your journey toward being a serious strobe user is very likely littered with the debris of hundreds of AA batteries! It’s those little power cells that provide the juice for the vast majority of flashguns, so you’d better get used to burning through them.
Cheap lead acid ones just won’t do; alkaline ones are more expensive but work far better. Lithium ones are better still, but the cost soon racks up and you’ll often be throwing them out, and nobody wants to start a photo session with half-dead batteries, reluctant to change them due to the cost.
