When I wrote the first edition of The Foley Grail, it was from the perspective of the practitioner schooled in the Hollywood style of Foley. Other than my two years spent working in the San Francisco Bay area and my occasional visits and chats with fellow New York sound professionals, I was awash in the Fordist conventions and the close collegiality with the talented and experienced professionals in Hollywood. This is both a strength and a weakness in my first edition.
