Chapter 3The Power of Web3
Fundamentally, Web3 proposes a decentralized internet, powered by blockchain. The blockchain becomes the financial backbone of this internet—powering transactions natively at the protocol level. This enables the tokenization of content and a new economy, where every creator can get economic benefit from the assets they are building. This is a fundamental shift that, if implemented properly, could redistribute the wealth of the internet from the pockets of a few huge corporations to a larger number of creators.

Web3 Is a Curious Thing
As the Huey Lewis song The Power of Love tells us, “The power of love is a curious thing. Make one man weep, make another man sing. Change a hawk to a little white dove. More than a feeling, that's the power of love.” Much like the power of love, the power of Web3 is a very curious thing. And we're going to explore it now.
Change a Hawk to a Little White Dove
This term “Web3” is powerful and also intimidating. It honestly feels like a big hawk in the wilderness, rather than a soft and cuddly dove. The reality is that Web3 has gotten a little too cute for its own good, with all kinds of crazy jargon and fancy buzzwords that add more confusion than clarity. People only care about how the technology solves their problems and no one really cares about how the technology is evolving behind the scenes.
