TESTING
T
esting will begin at some point in the production cycle, usually around
alpha release. At this point in development, several elements in the game
need to be checked for defects and crash bugs. Testing is an integral part
of game development, so it is important not to short change the testing schedule
as the production phase comes to a close.
The QA testers provide a valuable service throughout the production cycle,
and the lead QA tester must be included in all level decisions about the game.
After testing begins, time is spent checking for defects and then making sure that
they are corrected before the game ships. This section of the book presents key
information about the testing phase. Topics include the following:
Writing Test Plans
Testing Cycle
Code Release Process
Console Submission Process
